Shifting into a character
By shifting your shoulders and eye gaze, you take on a person's role and 'speak' as them — ASL's version of quotation. Research finds this the single weakest receptive skill for learners, so it gets its own lesson.
Reading it back
The final skill is comprehension at speed: following a signer who shifts roles, points into set-up space, and drops classifiers in — all at conversational pace. That's the bridge to real conversation.
